Arriving in the UK
Welcome to the UK! Here’s what you need to know for your arrival at the airport.
Immigration Control
When you arrive in the UK you will first pass through Immigration Control before picking up your luggage. You will need to join a different queue depending on if you are arriving from within or outside the EU. You may have to wait for up to two hours at immigration during busy periods. Keep all of your documents to hand to ensure you get through Immigration Control as quickly as possible.
Once you have cleared immigration, customs and got your baggage you can travel to the campus.
Insurance Cover
It is now compulsory for all students to have insurance before they begin their studies with us. As safety and welfare is our priority, we have designed a comprehensive insurance policy in partnership with Endsleigh, Europe’s leading student insurer, specifically for Navitas students.
How to get your room keys
If you have booked accommodation with the University, you need to go to the accommodation office in square B4 of the campus map to get your key. If you’re collecting your accommodation keys out of hours, you will need to collect your keys from security, located in the Michael Stirling building (located in D4 in the campus map).
Collect your ID from the Student Centre during the week, Monday to Thursday from 9am to 4.30pm and on Friday from 10am to 4.30pm
Register with the Police
Certain nationalities of international students are required to register with the UK police on arrival. This is also stated as a condition of some students’ visas and will be clearly indicated in your passport with the words ‘Please register with the police within seven days’.
During your enrolment, you will be told how and where to register. If you are unable to attend registration, please inform us as soon as you arrive and we will give you full details about where to go and who to speak to.
